 HISTORY

The Coronation pattern was first released on the 26th May 1936 to commemorate the crowning of Edward VIII. But as we now know Edward wanted to marry Mrs Simpson an American divorcee, and to do this he had to abdicate. For some reason when this happened it was thought necessary to change the name in the British Commonwealth to Hampton Court but still retaining Coronation on the American Continent. Confusion abounds as Hampton Court exists as a different pattern first released in around 1932. At least this is the story as I understand it and may be because of this unusual background and the beauty of the design the Hampton Court/Coronation pattern has become most sought after and is collected all over the world.  If you can not find the piece you are looking for please contact me at:-
